FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

Something we have not answered? Call or send us a note and we will get right back to you.

Shopping

How far ahead should I start shopping?

Nine to twelve months before your wedding is ideal. Most gowns take 14 to 18 weeks to arrive, and you will want another two to three months for alterations. If your date is sooner, come in anyway: most of our designers offer rush production.

What sizes do you carry?

Every designer we carry can be ordered from size 0 to size 30, and we keep samples from size 8 to 24 in the salon. Your stylist knows which gowns run small or large, and we clip samples so you can see how a gown will look in your size.

Your appointment

How many guests can I bring?

Up to four for a bridal consultation and up to six for the VIP experience. Any more than that and it gets hard to hear your own opinion. Anyone who cannot make it can join on FaceTime.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Nude, seamless undergarments (a strapless bra if you have one) and shoes in the heel height you plan to wear. Screenshots of gowns you love help, and so does knowing your venue, season and budget.

Do you charge for appointments?

No. Bridal consultations, the VIP experience, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride appointments and tux fittings are all complimentary.

Where do I park?

There is metered parking along Broad Street, and the White Street municipal lot is a two-minute walk away. Saturdays downtown are busy, so give yourself a few extra minutes.

Ordering

Can I order a gown in a rush?

Usually, yes. Most designers offer rush production for $200 to $450, depending on the designer, which brings the wait down to 8 to 12 weeks. Tell us your date when you book and your stylist will pull gowns that can arrive in time.

How do payments work?

We take a 50% deposit when you order and the balance when your gown arrives. If you would rather spread it out, ask about a payment plan with monthly payments up to the arrival date. We accept cards, cash, checks and Zelle.

When should my bridesmaids order?

At least four months before the wedding. Dessy dresses take about 13 weeks to arrive, and we like time for hems. We order the whole party together so every dress is cut from the same dye lot.

Alterations

How much do alterations usually cost?

Most of our brides spend $300 to $600. A simple hem is $85 and a French bustle starts at $75; the whole menu is on our alterations page. Your seamstress quotes everything at your first fitting, before any work begins.

Will you alter a gown I bought somewhere else?

Yes. Rosa and Elena alter gowns from other shops at the same prices as our own. Call us with your wedding date so we can find you a first fitting about eight to ten weeks before.

After the wedding

Do you offer gown preservation?

Yes. Bring your gown back after the wedding and we send it to our preservation partner for cleaning and acid-free boxing. It is $349 and takes about eight weeks.
